Wattlas — licence for the derived data ====================================== Wattlas publishes small, pre-computed JSON aggregates under `data/`. They are derived from open data published by transmission system operators, regulators and statistical offices. This file licenses **Wattlas's own derived aggregates**. It does not, and cannot, license the upstream data they are derived from: those remain subject to their own terms, which bind you independently of anything written here. Nor does it cover the source code (see the repository) or the map basemaps under `geo/`. Licence ------- Except for the files listed under "Exclusions" below, everything in `data/` is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ CC BY 4.0 is used deliberately, in that version: unlike CC BY 3.0 it explicitly grants the *sui generis* database rights that apply to a compiled dataset in the EU. Those rights, not copyright in the individual numbers, are what a licence over a dataset like this one actually concerns. Attribution ----------- Attribution is required. It is also the point: the reason this data is public, CORS-readable and licensed at all is so that other people can use it and say where it came from. Most are rebuilt daily; `data/history/` is a one-time backfill and does not move. Exclusions ---------- The following files are **NOT** covered by the licence above. They embed upstream material that Wattlas does not own and therefore cannot sub-license. No reuse rights are granted for them here; if you want to use them, go to the upstream source and obtain its terms. data/fr_costs.json A curated cost stack hand-assembled from published studies, carried as a static table with a range and a citation. The figures are cited, not licensed. data/fr_nuclear_sites.json A compiled list of the French reactor fleet, drawing on public site data, RTE and the IAEA Power Reactor Information System (PRIS). data/capacity_adequacy.json Curated, provisional policy figures compiled from published tender documents. data/ev_europe.json Curated from EAFO's (European Commission / Eco-Movement) published data updates. The figures are EAFO's own, quoted with their dates; EAFO offers no machine-readable export to derive from. data/ev_prices.json A dated snapshot of published charging tariffs, the ADAC motorway survey and the Bundeskartellamt sector-inquiry findings. Proprietary and semi-open sources, cited. data/ev_demand.json A derived estimate (per-BEV multiplier x KBA fleet) plus quoted third-party scenario projections (ICIS, McKinsey). The projections are not Wattlas's to license. data/ev_v2g.json A curated timeline of regulation and provider announcements (announcement-tier material, quoted with dates). data/ev_hdv.json Curated from tender releases, company announcements, EAFO heavy-duty counts and the PwC E-Bus Radar. Target/announcement-tier and proprietary material, cited. data/ev_economics.json One listed company's audited results (Fastned Annual Report FY2025), quoted. A window into the sector, not a dataset Wattlas can license. data/ev_2035.json Quoted positions and third-party estimates (Commission proposal, T&E, ICCT) in a live legislative negotiation. Cited, not licensable data. data/china_curtailment.json Curated Chinese curtailment figures, press-surfaced (Bloomberg / Power Technology / CREA reporting of the Monitoring Center's numbers). Reported, likely understated; cited per outlet, not licensable data. These files are also marked `dataset: false` in `data/ia.json`, so no `Dataset` structured data is emitted for the views that read them. Structured data that declares a licence over material the publisher does not hold would be worse than none. No warranty ----------- The data is provided as-is, for informational and educational purposes, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose. Several figures are explicitly labelled upper bounds, models or estimates — the battery-arbitrage and flexibility figures assume perfect foresight and zero losses and are unachievable; the marginal-fuel view is a model, not a measurement; the curtailment cost is an estimate at a reference price.
