The hour-of-day price profile
What it measures
The average price for each hour of the local day over the window, split into weekday and weekend because the demand shape differs between them.
Inputs
- The day-ahead price on the canonical hourly grid, for the bidding zone selected on the view
Method and weighting
The hour-of-day profile takes the day-ahead price on the canonical hourly grid and groups every observation by its local hour of the day, from the first hour of the day to the last.
The mean price is worked out for each local hour across the whole window, then again after splitting the data into weekdays and weekends, because the shape of demand differs between them.
Grouping happens after the price is converted to local time, so the two clock-change days each still land their hours in the correct slot of the day.
Window
The rolling 12 months to the last complete day, refreshed on the 1st and 15th of each month. The current window runs from to . Data last refreshed on .
Known limits
- This is an average day built from many days, so no single day looks exactly like it: the midday trough and the evening peak are both means, drawn from every day the window covers.
