Road transport's share of electricity use

What it measures

Road transport's share of electricity use is its electricity consumption as a percentage of all final electricity consumption, for the same year.

Inputs

  • Eurostat's energy balance for road transport's electricity use, for Germany and the EU27, annual
  • Eurostat's energy balance for final electricity consumption, for the same geographies, annual

Method and weighting

Road transport's share of electricity use is its electricity consumption, read from Eurostat's energy balance, divided by final electricity consumption (all electricity used by end users) for the same year and geography, expressed as a percentage.

Eurostat records road transport's electricity as its own line in the balance, so the figure is a count Eurostat itself publishes.

A year missing either count has no share for that year: the missing count is left out.

Window

Calendar years from Eurostat's energy balance; a year with either count missing has no share. Data last refreshed on .

Known limits

  • The road-transport category is drawn whole from Eurostat's energy balance, and its precise boundary is Eurostat's own definition.
